MoveSpace Platform Terms of Service

1. Platform Description
MoveSpace is a technology platform that provides two tiers of service to moving companies, and connects customers with independent, licensed movers through its marketplace. MoveSpace does not perform moving services, does not act as a moving broker, and is not a motor carrier.
By accessing or using the MoveSpace platform at movespace.market, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the platform.
2. Service Tiers
MoveSpace offers two tiers of service for moving companies:
- Free Website Tier — Any moving company may claim a free website on the MoveSpace platform ({company}.movespace.market). This includes a page builder, company profile, customer reviews, and analytics. The free website tier does not include marketplace listing, online booking, or payment processing. No fees are charged for the free website tier. MoveSpace may display its branding on free-tier websites.
- Marketplace Tier — Moving companies that complete verification (including background screening, W-9, and applicable licensing) may upgrade to the marketplace tier. This includes listing in the MoveSpace marketplace directory, online booking and quoting, payment processing, crew management tools, customer portal, document generation, and all other platform features. Marketplace tier is subject to platform fees as described in Section 6.
Moving companies on the free website tier may upgrade to the marketplace tier at any time by completing the required verification steps. Marketplace companies may not downgrade to the free tier while active bookings exist.
3. Eligibility
For Moving Companies (Providers): Movers must maintain valid FMCSA operating authority (for interstate moves), applicable state licenses (where required), active cargo and general liability insurance, and must pass MoveSpace background screening before accepting bookings through the platform.
For Customers: You must be at least 18 years of age to use the MoveSpace platform and enter into a booking agreement with a moving company.
4. Role of MoveSpace
MoveSpace is a technology platform only. All moving services listed on the platform are performed by independent moving companies that maintain their own operating authority, insurance, and employees. MoveSpace does not employ, supervise, or control movers or their crews.
MoveSpace does not guarantee service quality, timeliness, or outcomes of any move. While MoveSpace screens providers for licensing, insurance, and background checks, the actual performance of moving services is solely the responsibility of the independent moving company you book.
5. Bookings & Transactions
Bookings made through the MoveSpace platform are contracts between the customer and the moving company. MoveSpace is not a party to this contract and is not responsible for the performance of the moving services. The platform supports local moves, interstate/long-distance moves, labor-only services, and furniture/item delivery.
MoveSpace facilitates payment processing via Stripe Connect. Funds flow directly to the mover's connected Stripe account. MoveSpace collects a platform fee (a percentage of the booking total) for marketplace and direct bookings, which is deducted before the mover receives their payout.
6. Platform Fees
MoveSpace charges the following fees for use of the platform:
- Marketplace bookings (customers who find movers through MoveSpace): 15% platform fee. Subject to change; movers are notified and must acknowledge any rate change before accepting new bookings.
- Direct bookings (mover's own customers using MoveSpace tools, including own-processor and offline payment): 0% platform fee. MoveSpace is not a party to direct-booking transactions.
- Processing fee: $0.30 per transaction.
Fees are deducted automatically before payout to the mover. Fees are non-refundable except in cases where a full booking cancellation occurs before any services are rendered.
6a. Partner Programs & Third-Party Referrals
Because the website builder and core tools are provided at no cost, MoveSpace operates partner referral programs to sustain the platform. Vetted third-party partners (for example, car shipping via RunBuggy, self-storage providers, insurance, utilities concierges) may be surfaced to your customers through widgets, callout banners, or a dedicated Partners page on your MoveSpace-hosted site.
- Default participation. When a MoveSpace partnership is designated as "default enabled," it is automatically active on all tenant sites. MoveSpace receives the referral compensation from the partner; tenants do not share in or contribute to this compensation.
- Opt-out. You may turn off any default-enabled partner at any time via Admin → Settings → Pages → Partners (toggle the partner card off). The change takes effect immediately and removes the partner's widget, callouts, and directory listing from your site.
- Tenant-added partners. You may also add your own referral partners (e.g. a local storage facility you've negotiated with). Those are separate from platform-level partners; any commission arrangement is between you and your partner, and MoveSpace does not take a share.
- Customer data. When a customer interacts with a partner widget, any data they enter (name, addresses, contact info) is submitted to that partner directly. Partners operate under their own terms and privacy policies; MoveSpace is not responsible for their handling of customer data after hand-off.
- No endorsement beyond vetting. We require partners to meet basic reliability and coverage standards before listing, but listing is not an endorsement or guarantee of service quality. Your customers transact with partners at their own discretion.
The current list of platform partners is visible on your Partners settings page. We will notify you via email or in-app banner before adding a new default-enabled partner so you have time to opt out before it goes live.
7. Payments & Payouts
Payments are processed through Stripe Connect. Mover payouts are deposited within 2 business days of payment collection. MoveSpace does not hold customer funds — payments flow directly through Stripe to the mover's connected account, minus applicable platform fees.
Customers authorize payment at the time of booking. A deposit is collected at booking to secure the move date. The remaining balance is calculated based on actual services rendered and charged upon completion.
Packing Materials: If you order packing materials, they are not included in your deposit. Materials are provided by your moving crew on the day of your move. You are charged only for materials actually provided, and the charge is included in your final invoice after the move is completed. Material prices are displayed during booking for your reference.
8. Cancellation Policy
Customers may cancel a booking at any time, subject to the following fees. A non-refundable processing fee of 5.9% applies to all cancellations:
- 72+ hours before move date: 5.9% processing fee only. Remaining deposit refunded.
- 24–72 hours before move date: 10% cancellation fee.
- Less than 24 hours or same day: 25% cancellation fee.
Cancellation fees are calculated on the total booking estimate. The remainder of your deposit (after applicable fees) is refunded to the original payment method within 5–10 business days.
Mover cancellations: If the moving company cancels after accepting a booking, the customer receives a full refund and MoveSpace will attempt to find an alternative provider.
9. Surcharges
Moving companies may apply surcharges for certain booking conditions. Surcharges are disclosed at the time of quoting and are included in the quoted estimate:
- Same-day booking: An additional percentage may be applied for bookings made on the same day as the move.
- Weekend (Saturday/Sunday): An additional percentage may be applied for moves scheduled on weekends.
- Holiday: An additional percentage may be applied for moves scheduled on recognized holidays.
- After-hours: An additional percentage may be applied for moves outside of standard business hours.
Surcharge rates vary by moving company and are set by the individual provider. All surcharges are clearly displayed in your quote before you confirm your booking.
10. No-Show Protection
If a moving company fails to arrive for a scheduled move ("no-show"), MoveSpace takes the following actions:
- Your deposit is fully protected and will be refunded if the issue is not resolved.
- MoveSpace will automatically attempt to match you with an alternative moving company in your area.
- You will be notified by email with recovery options and next steps.
- The moving company's account is flagged and may be suspended.
11. Coverage Products
MoveSpace offers optional supplemental coverage products for moves booked through the platform:
- MoveSpace Coverage — Available for interstate moves. Provides supplemental damage protection per move. This is a supplemental customer satisfaction program, not an insurance product. It does not replace the moving company's cargo insurance or general liability coverage. For claims exceeding the MoveSpace Coverage limit, customers may contact the moving company directly to pursue additional recovery.
- Move Protection — Available for local and intrastate moves.
These coverage products are administered by the MoveSpace platform, not the moving company performing your move. Coverage is subject to separate terms and exclusions. See Coverage Terms for full details.
12. Electronic Signatures
By using the MoveSpace platform, you consent to the use of electronic signatures in accordance with the Electronic Signatures in Global and National Commerce Act (ESIGN Act) and applicable state laws. Electronic signatures collected through the platform are legally binding.
- You will be asked to provide electronic signatures at key points during your move (e.g., confirming the estimate, acknowledging pickup, confirming delivery).
- Each signature is accompanied by a complete audit trail including timestamp, document hash, and your consent acknowledgment. This audit trail is retained by MoveSpace for compliance and dispute resolution purposes.
- You may request a copy of any signed document or audit trail through your customer portal.
13. Fraud Prevention & Payment Security
MoveSpace employs automated fraud detection and payment security measures to protect all users:
- All payments are processed through Stripe, a PCI-DSS Level 1 certified payment processor. MoveSpace does not store your full credit card number.
- Automated billing safeguards prevent charges that significantly exceed quoted estimates. Final invoices exceeding 125% of the original estimate are flagged for review.
- MoveSpace monitors for suspicious activity including unauthorized charges, account misuse, and payment fraud. Accounts involved in fraudulent activity may be suspended immediately.
- For marketplace bookings, your payment is held in escrow until you confirm the move is complete. If you do not respond within 24 hours of completion, payment is automatically released to the moving company.
14. Dispute Resolution
Disputes between customers and movers regarding the moving services should first be resolved directly between the parties. If a dispute cannot be resolved directly, either party may escalate to MoveSpace platform mediation by contacting support through their account portal.
MoveSpace's mediation decisions are binding for claims filed under MoveSpace coverage products (FVP and Move Protection). For disputes that fall outside coverage products, MoveSpace may facilitate communication between the parties but is not liable for the outcomes of such disputes.
15. Limitation of Liability
MoveSpace is not liable for any damages, injuries, losses, or delays arising from moving services performed by independent moving companies listed on the platform. This includes, but is not limited to, property damage, personal injury, theft, late delivery, or failure to perform services.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, MoveSpace's total liability for any claim arising from or related to the platform is limited to the platform fees collected by MoveSpace on the specific transaction in question.
MoveSpace provides the platform on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind, express or implied.
16. Indemnification
Users of the MoveSpace platform (both customers and moving companies) agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless MoveSpace, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against all claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from:
- Your use of the MoveSpace platform.
- Your violation of these Terms of Service.
- Property damage or personal injury arising from moving services.
- Contractual disputes between customers and movers.
- Your violation of any applicable law or regulation.
17. Account Termination
MoveSpace may suspend or terminate any user account at its sole discretion for any of the following reasons:
- Violation of these Terms of Service.
- Fraudulent activity or misrepresentation.
- Failure to maintain required licenses, insurance, or operating authority (for providers).
- Conduct detrimental to the platform, its users, or its reputation.
- Repeated customer complaints or low service ratings (for providers).
Users may also voluntarily close their accounts at any time by contacting MoveSpace support. Upon termination, any in-progress bookings must be honored by the provider.
18. Data Retention & Deletion
MoveSpace retains booking records, electronic signatures, audit trails, and payment records for a minimum of 7 years as required by FMCSA regulations and applicable tax law. This data is retained regardless of account closure.
- Customers may request deletion of their account and personal data through the platform.
- Upon deletion, personal data (name, email, phone) is anonymized. Booking records, signatures, and financial data are retained in anonymized form for compliance.
- Moving companies may request account closure, but booking and payment records are retained per regulatory requirements.
19. Modifications
MoveSpace reserves the right to update or modify these Terms of Service at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Material changes may be communicated via email to registered users.
Continued use of the MoveSpace platform after any modifications constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms.
20. Governing Law
These Terms of Service are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any legal action arising out of or relating to these terms or the MoveSpace platform shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Dallas County, Texas.
